Legal Advisor, Managing Partner

Dariusz Szcześniak is responsible for the commercial litigation practice concerning financial market institutions and corporate disputes related to the operation of capital companies. This includes protecting the rights of shareholders, as well as issues involving the liability of members of management boards.

Prior to founding DMS in 2004, he worked in financial institutions and cooperated with the Warsaw offices of international law firms, where he was responsible for services offered to pension and investment funds, and advised Polish and international clients on matters concerning capital markets.

He acts as an attorney in front of common courts of law as well as in proceedings in front of the Polish Financial Supervisory Authority and administrative courts.

From 1995 to 1997 he was the director of the legal team at the Funds Management Department in the Polish Development Bank S.A. Subsequently, as a legal advisor, he coordinated legal advisory services related to founding and then operating one of the first trust fund associations in Poland.

Dariusz Szcześniak sits on the supervisory boards of capital companies. He is a trustee representing bondholders in bankruptcy procedures, and an arbitrator in arbitration disputes pending in front of the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce in Warsaw.

In the 2003 Guide to the World’s Leading Capital Markets Lawyers, Euromoney Legal Media Group recommended Dariusz Szcześniak as a legal expert in capital markets in Poland, while the 7th Ranking of Rzeczpospolita classified him as a Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year.

A graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration of Warsaw University, and a legal advisor since 1996, he qualified as a judge in 1995.
